Today’s Thursday Thoughts come from my recent blog post examining Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP‘s 2025 Diversity Disclosure Practices report, which revealed that momentum towards gender parity on the boards of Canadian public companies slowed considerably in 2025.

In the blog, I discussed the likely causes of the slowdown, including the political headwinds and DEI retreat in the US, the “merit” myth, and disclosure fatigue.

But I also issued this call to action. At Women Get On Board Inc. (WGOB), we are committed to increasing our efforts toward reaching gender parity in the boardroom, and we invite others to do the same.
