Today’s Thursday Thoughts come from my recent conversation with Gordon Sheppard, MBA, Prosci on the Executive Wins podcast. In our discussion, we explored the strides that women have made in the boardroom over the past decade since I first founded Women Get On Board Inc. (WGOB), and we also talked about the challenges.

While the number of women on corporate boards in Canada has increased, in recent years it has begun to plateau. And in some industries, such as mining, tech, and life sciences, the proportion of women remains well below the average.

People often ask me, when do you think Women Get On Board’s job is done? And I always say that it’s when we get to gender parity. When boards are made up of 50% women across every industry, then we’ve achieved what we set out to do 10 years ago.
